Ware Arts Centre
A one- off, fun music afternoon for anyone who plays an instrument. Ware Pop Up Community Orchestra aims to encourage anyone, young, old or somewhere in the middle, who may have learnt an instrument at some point but has not played for a while, to dust it off again, and have a go at playing in an orchestra – just for an afternoon. Rusty players most welcome, but you will need to be able to read music.
If you are a seasoned player, I will have music parts for a very wide range of ability levels, and so please don’t hesitate to come too.
This event is an orchestral event, but I am happy to consider any acoustic instruments joining in and can create music parts for a specific instrument as necessary. This is why it is essential to book a place on the day, so please make sure you do – so I can prepare appropriate music.
The repertoire will focus on light classical music but will also include a few pieces of other genres, perhaps something jazzy, folky or filmy! I will have the music parts available in January to send to any participants who may want to practice them in advance, and if there’s anything I can do to help you prepare the music and participate in the day, just contact me to discuss this with me. I hope to make the event as accessible as possible.
You will need to bring a music stand.
Children and Young People
Young musicians are very welcome to attend. Children under the age of 12 will need to be accompanied by an adult and adult observers are welcome to sit in for this purpose. Perhaps bring a book if you are not playing an instrument!
12-18s are welcome unaccompanied, we will have an adult responsible for looking out for any young people, but please be aware that 12-18s will be asked not to leave the venue during the event. There will be no 1-2-1 tuition as part of this event.
We will provide tea and coffee during the break and a biscuit or two (each!). Feel free to bring any snacks along too.
Ware Arts Centre Support
I would like to extend my thanks to the Ware Arts Centre for agreeing to providing their venue free of charge for this event, which means it can run free of charge to all.
